【月桂樹の植え替え】

月桂樹ですが、鉢植えで育てています。
かなり大きくなったので土地に下ろしたいのですが、当地域は冬になると雪が積もるため心配です。
寒さや雪対策はどの程度気をつけないといけないのでしょうか？
植え替えても大丈夫でしょうか。また植え替えに適した時期についてもお願いします
