【柿の切り詰めについて】

目通り直径約２０ｃｍの柿の木を、西側にある枝の一部を残して昨年約３ｍに切り詰めました。今年東側の頭頂部から胴吹枝がでてきました。
もっと丈を切り詰めたいのですが、幹の切り詰めたい西側の箇所に鋸目うを入れて来年は東側に鋸目を入れて切断するということを考えてます。可能でしょうか。御教示願います。
